Abstract

Cultural sustainability is a significant concern for many individuals and cultures for a variety of reasons. On the whole, many people are rejecting or failing to sufficiently engage traditional cultural art forms with their current lifestyle. In this thesis, a specific cultural investigation is carried on the Yemeni Qamariya cultural art form. The research design methodology is conducted through analyzing Yemeni pattern design regarding architecture and nature, with the intended outcome of providing a design that enhances cultural connection and contributes to cultural sustainability. Research has shown that the current interest in culture is strongly influenced by technology through the representation of data collection, which helps with examining population, genetics, and socio-demographics. This study aims at questioning the nature of the cultural connection and whether or not it enhances cultural sustainability. Further, the study proposes enhancing cultural connections which contribute to cultural sustainability. In this context, a cultural connection is defined as the extent to which people feel the connection to a culture, as demonstrated by accepting, embracing, and raising awareness of it. Based on the latest research, the importance of culture is being neglected, so cultural connection can work to prevent cultural extinction. Additionally, this study’s outcomes advocate for a sustainable and mindful culture.
