Abstract

To keep things clear ( clearer than they were while making the work) I have divided this paper into three sections. First, an introduction to Ruysch and her historical context; second, a description of my own production in response to her work; and third, some thoughts on rummaging about in the past as a legitimate task for contemporary painting.
