Abstract
I seek to examine what the capacity of technology is in its ability to generate alternative representations of the human body. Can it provide a potential to produce renewed portrayals that question heteronormative and patriarchal values? Working with photography, animation, and projection, I am interested in how digital imaging can create, manipulate, and rework the female body in a way that rests somewhere between representation and abstraction. Extracting content from both real and virtual worlds allows me to explore the formation and re-formation of embodiment as a hybrid form. Placed in an indeterminate space, these hybrids aim to shift our perceptions of gendered bodies, offering new ways of looking at the image of the body and its relationship to other human and non-human actors.
