Abstract
Higher education has embraced the advantages of distance learning, but while current distance learning environments can be utilized for teaching visual designs at a distance, they are not ideal for the task. Simultaneously, the professional community has registered disappointment with student outcomes in web and interaction design programs. There two circumstances can be used as a rationale for conceptualizing an improvised distance learning environment model for teaching design. Using Action Research Methodology as a model for exploration this thesis presents a speculative improved model of distance learning aimed at visual design courses.
