A Bridge to Wholeness:: Intuition and Its Importance to Art Education and Society

Abstract

"This thesis reveals the need for wholeness within the individual and society to not only reflect and understand, but creatively interact with our changing world. We have become separate from ourselves, each other, and nature. To regain balance and shift the current emphasis on logic and reason, a new respect for intuition and creativity must be cultivated. The art classes existing within our educational institutions become the bridge for individuals to re-discover and foster the inherent qualities of intuitive and creative thought. Through an art curriculum which emphasizes personal experience and relationships, a strong base is formed for future learning and living. Such is the beginning of a new order of seeing which is essential for a new wisdom."
