Abstract
Based on a phenomenological framework, derived from the written work of Max Van Manen, this thesis is a personal reflection that describes and unfolds the practice of a feminist artist-teacher. Art ideas and how they have materialized are recapitulated bringing a greater understanding of the artist's developing expression. Writings by feminist authors, inspirational and influential, are reviewed. The thesis links the many art influences, both personal and social on Norris as artist, feminist, and the educator. Mentorship is seen to be an important part of personal learning and growth. Making connections with the work of artists of the past has proven vital and enriching to her art process.
