Abstract

enlace represents a technical departure from the "alteration" of ready-made or hand-woven cloth to the building of an inherently holed fabric. With this process of constructing an "open" fabric, I have been able to realize the natural propensity of the lace technique to suggest notions of absence, presence and time. These qualities that are found within the materiality of lace have led me further towards a means of using thread as a symbol oflife, fate, and mortality.
